2020 and Beyond: Opportunity Amid Chaos »

The year 2020 has proven to be one of the most difficult and disruptive in our lives. Nevertheless, it has also presented an opportunity to assess and, to some extent, redefine ourselves as individuals, business owners, and community leaders. It’s time to look beyond the balance sheets and income statements and imagine how we can all make a positive impact amid the chaos.

In the rush for profitability, have we ignored people or problems that deserve our attention? Are we creating a community that can support a thriving 21st-century business hub, or are we repeating past mistakes in an effort to maximize financial success?

At Maxx, we are fortunate to work with clients all over the world who are dedicating their resources to making a difference in whatever capacity they can, large or small. And we are following suit. Doing the best with what we have. Taking care of legacy customers first. Thinking beyond the coronavirus and not getting carried away by prospects that are shinier than they are substantive. After all, it’s only a matter of time before the pandemic will be in our rearview mirror.

Of course, we’re adapting to the challenges of COVID-19. But as always, we remain squarely focused on the opportunities that support sustainable growth—for our people, planet, and the products we bring to market. Our “Excellent” rating regarding the RSPO and sustainable palm oil is just the beginning.

Fortifying Our Future Together.

The Maxx Advisory Board offers insights on future trends in human and animal nutrition. See what the future holds according to our experts!

Frederic N. Owens Frederic N. Owens, PhD, PAS
Antibiotic Substitutes
“With continued concerns about antibiotic resistance in humans, replacements for dietary antibiotics that enhance the efficiency of animal production will continue to be sought.”
Vernetta Dally Vernetta Dally, Food Scientist
Personalized Nutrition
“As consumer interest in personalized nutrition grows, the use of functional ingredients that claim to help with everything from stress relief to athletic performance to weight loss will drive product development.”
Paul Siegel Paul Siegel, PhD
Sustainability
“I expect we’ll see a global effort toward sustainable manufacturing that starts at the production site. For us, that means reducing waste by having processes in place to maximize viable food product.”
Patricia Rayas-Duarte Patricia Rayas-Duarte, PhD
Prebiotics & Probiotics
“The old-world wisdom of natural herbs and spices is being taken more seriously. The medicine of the future will focus more on probiotic therapy and less on pharmaceuticals dispensed for our ailments.”
L. Wayne Greene L. Wayne Greene, PhD, PAS
Food Safety
“As our society becomes more affluent and people have more leisure time, a greater consumer focus will be placed on food safety in terms of animal protein production—how they are raised and what they are fed.”
Frederic N. Owens Frederic N. Owens, PhD, PAS
Reducing Animal Waste
“From an environmental management standpoint, reducing animal waste (methane) will continue to be of interest. But whether supplemental dietary enzymes, probiotics, or microbial cultures can decrease fecal concentrations of cresol, skatole, and indole, and sulfurous materials need to be tested.”
Patricia Rayas-Duarte Patricia Rayas-Duarte, PhD
Health Improvers
“Nutritional enhancements that can be added to any food product to support human well-being—including, but not limited to, nutraceuticals, antioxidants, vitamins, minerals, and more. These are most important for the aging population which heals more slowly.”
