Optimizing Ingredients

Pulling antibiotics puts pressure on gain and feed conversion, especially in brooding and early grow-out. High-dose copper sulfate (around 200 ppm) has long filled that gap. It also dissolves early in the gut, can erode the gizzard, and sends more copper into litter.

MaxxCopper coats each copper particle in a thin lipid shell. The shell survives pelleting and the acidic upper tract, then releases copper in the small intestine.

Virginia Tech ran two 35-day trials on 1,656 Ross 708 males. The birds were raised on used litter with no antibiotics. Results:

  • At 182 g/MT, birds gained 92 g more than the no-copper control through Day 28 and converted feed better.
  • At 140 g/MT (30% less copper than the raw reference), birds still gained significantly more than control.
  • No gizzard erosion and no change in gut permeability vs. control.
